Healing the Soil
Most tree problems originate below ground. Soil compaction, buried root collars, and girdling roots are silent killers that slowly suffocate mature trees.
Using specialized supersonic air tools (Air Spades), our arborists can safely remove compacted soil and expose the root collar without damaging delicate feeder roots. This allows us to correct structural root defects, such as stem-girdling roots that choke the trunk as the tree grows.
Following excavation, we often incorporate organic compost and specialized mulching techniques to recreate a natural forest floor environment, dramatically improving soil porosity, moisture retention, and microbial activity.
